Malpensa International Airport is one of two main international airports in Italy. Malpensa is located in the province of Varese, near Milan to which is connected by the Milano-Varese highway as well by a dedicated train, called "Malpensa Express" (from Cadorna Station). The airport has the IATA Airport Code MXP. Service buses connect Malpensa to the Milano city-airport Linate (IATA Airport Code LIN).


Malpensa is the main hub of Alitalia, the Italian national flag carrier. This airport connects Milan and Lombardy with the rest of world.


Malpensa International Airport has two terminals, T1 for commercial traffic and T2 for charter and low-cost traffic. The T1 has two satellites: A - National and european traffic; B - International traffic. The third satellite is under construction.

Malpensa International Airport (IATA: MXP, ICAO: LIMC) is located in the province of Varese, near Milan, Italy.
Malpensa is the main hub of Alitalia, the Italian national flag carrier, with over 19,6 million passengers in the year 2005 (over 29 with Linate, the second airport of Milan, closer to the town and over 33 with Orio al Serio International Airport, Milan's low cost airport).
The airport is also connected to Swiss cities of Lugano, Zurich and Geneva by the Swiss rail.

I was forced to exit the airport, move to the arrivals area and stand in the long queue for the regular check in.
Malpensa is a big airport but not nearly as congested and confusing as some, although seating is definitely lacking.
Malpensa is one of the few European airports to make the Schengen deal work, as it was created after Schengen had commenced.
