The peso was a currency issued on the Malvinas Islands (now the Falklands Islands) in 1829. It was issued by Louis Vernet, appointed Governor by the Republic of Buenos Aires. It is not indicated on the paper money issued whether this currency was equal to the Argentine peso fuerte or peso moneda corriente. The peso circulated until 1833, when the British occupation of the islands began. Louis Vernet Louis Vernet was the 4th and last Argentine Governor of Puerto Soledad, and Argentine colony in the Falkland Islands from 1829 until 1821. ... Paper money was issued in denominations of 1, 2, 5 and 10 pesos. The notes were uniface and printed in black ink.
