The Mamberamo River is a large river in Papua province, Indonesia. The source of the river is a huge valley which is home to uncontacted tribes and incredible biodiversity. The Indonesian Government is planning to construct a dam to submerge the area.

The river originates from the mountainous area of the island at 3,000 m altitude, so that there is quite significant slope along the river’s path to the ocean.
