In various European countries, there are only radio airplay charts and "Mambo!" peaked on Estonia airplay chart at number one (#1). In Romania it peaked at number thirteen (#13) charting for thirty weeks. In Russia it reached number forty-one (#41) on their Top 100 Airplay Chart. In Poland "Mambo!" grew very popular and peaked on a lot of radio stations at number one. On the official Polish National Top 50 "Mambo!" peaked at number six (#6) for two weeks. Mambo! is currently still in the top 40 Download Chart on the "All Around The World" (AATW) site (The record company which released the single in the UK). An employee at AATW said that in order to make the top 40 AATW Download Charts a single needs about a 100 downloads a week. "Mambo!" was released on 13 November - well over 6 months ago and it has been in top 40 AATW download chart every week apart from one. AATW were also keen to release the song from May 2006 but were told by SonyBMG in Greece that they wanted to release the song at the same time internationally. AATW pencilled a release date in every 3/4 weeks for "Mambo!". SonyBMG eventually told them they could release it around August-time. AATW created the remixes and promoted it as a club song although it was never promoted as a pop song. They also planned to get Helena some promotional spots in the UK over Christmas (as was originally announced by Helena herself). But AATW were not told by Helena's management that she was already performing at Iera Odos over the Christmas period. The video for "Mambo!" was only shown on 2 music channels (The Box and Bubble Hits) This means that AATW were not solely responsible for the song's failure (it reached just #185 in the chart) and the UK Top 200 Singles chart which includes downloads should have reported that "Mambo!" should have re-entered the charts at around #150 in around early March![7] All Around The World (also known simply by AATW) is a record label from Blackburn, England, and based on the principles of Italian label Media Records, with a number of studio based projects supplying a flow of hits. ... is the 317th day of the year (318th in leap years) in the Gregorian calendar. ... Mambo Dance History (750 words)
A modified version of the "Mambo" (the original dance had to be toned down due to the violent acrobatics) was presented to the public at dance studios, resort hotels, and at night-clubs in New York and Miami.
One of the greatest contributions of the Mambo is that it led to the development of the Cha-Cha.
The Mambo is enjoying a renewed popularity due to a number of films featuring the dance as well as a man named Eddie Torres.
Mambo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (829 words)
The word mambo (conversation with the gods) is the name of a priestess in Haitian Voodoo, derived from the language of the African slaves who were imported into the Caribbean.
Mambo remained popular throughout the United States and Cuba until the 1960s, when a combination of boogaloo and pachanga (both modified forms of mambo) were created.
Easier to dance than the mambo, with a squarish beat and a characteristic hiccup on the third beat, it spread to Europe, before being dethroned in the early 1960's by the pachanga and then the boogaloo.
