The welfare-climatic health resort and Kneippkurort one-the-separate with 1328 inhabitants (conditions: May 2004) on 10,06 km² lies in the Eifel in the district Bernkastel Wittlich and is seat of the convention community one-the-separates. Admit are the castles of one-the-separate: the upper and the Niederburg. For tourists interesting are also the Edelsteinschleiferei, the local history museum and the Maarmuseum. Weltkrieg entwickelte sich der Amtsort Manderscheid kontinuierlich weiter und wurde zu einem besonderen touristischen Anziehungspunkt in der südlichen Vulkaneifel.
