Of them (as of 2000), 179,355 (82.6%) are White non hispanic, 6,907 (3.2%) are African-American, 13,778 (6.3%) Asian or Pacific Islander, 126 (0.1%) American Indian or Native Alskan, 618 (0.3%) of some other race, 3,952 (1.5%) of two or more race, 3,253 (6.0%) of Hispanic origins. 4.5% of the population benefit from public assistance as of 2004, up from 2.8% in 2000.
