Manhattan Murder Mystery is a 1993 film directed by and starring Woody Allen who plays book editor Larry Lipton. Lipton's wife, played by Diane Keaton, becomes curious about the death of their neighbor and drags him reluctantly into an amateur criminal investigation. The movie, co-written by Marshall Brickman, also features performances by Anjelica Huston and Alan Alda. Shot on location in New York City like most of Allen's movies, Manhattan Murder Mystery adds to the genre of murder mystery with musings on middle age and marriage. Diane Keaton's role was written for Mia Farrow before her separation from Allen.
The emphasis on the murder investigation meant that we learned less about the participants than we might have liked; they all got decent exposition but not enough to make them really come to life.
Murder offered a fairly comic mystery, and it could be moderately witty and entertaining at times.

"ManhattanMurderMystery" is Woody Allen's first flat-out comedy in years, and he's taken care to pack it very tightly with loads of laughs and even works in some effective suspense.

The murdermystery is also clever, with quite a few unexpected twists and turns, resolved in a logical, if somewhat complicated manner.
