The election of September 21 , 1999 in Manitoba , Canada returned to power the New Democratic Party (NDP), which had been out of power since 1988 . The NDP won 32 seats, against 24 for the Progressive Conservatives . The Manitoba Liberal Party won one seat.

Manitoba is lower in elevation than areas to the east, west, and south, and serves as a drainage basin for several major rivers.
