Manitou Springs is a city in El Paso County, Colorado, west of Colorado Springs along Ute Pass.
Manitou Springs derives its name from two dozen mineral springs situated throughout the area, many of which have spigots that locals and tourists alike may drink from.
As a result, many of the springs were made undrinkable during the bulk of the 1980s, but this has since largely been corrected.
Wheeler House - Manitou Springs, Colorado (326 words)
Colonel Wheeler was responsible for building the Colorado Midland Railway through the mountains of Aspen and the opening of three banks in Aspen, Colorado City, and Manitou Springs.
