Marabouts rely on donations to live. Often there is an obligation to support the marabout that has accumulated over generations within a family. Marabouts normally dress in traditional West African robes. In Islam, by order of the Quran, there is no such thing as good luck. As well, all humans are equal, so the idea of making a scholar elevated to the status of a demi god is not true to Islamic tradition. Many countries veer from the Quran with their own traditions in Islamic countries. |
