What Is The Manhattan Area Retired Educators Association (MAREA) is a social organization primarily helping retired educators keep in touch with each other and helping them to stay current with relevant community, national and legislative events.  Most of this is done through monthly meetings from September through May of each year.
The MAREA unit was established in 1962 under the name Manhattan Area Retired Teachers Association (MARTA).
MAREA unit dues support the monthly meetings, an annual yearbook, and a semiannual newsletter.
