Maria Cristina Falls is the most popular of all the waterfalls in Mindanao island and the landmark of Iligan City, also known as the City of Majestic Waterfalls because of its majestic waterfalls (approximately more than 20). It is located 8.5 kilometers away southwest of the city proper. Well-known for its natural beauty and grandeur, the 320-feet high waterfalls is also the primary source of power for the city's industries and the whole Mindanao region. Its waters flow through the Agus channel and come from the Lake Lanao located in Marawi City. Although 90% of the waters are used to power the hydroelectric plant, the cascades still look majestic. The falls is a main tourist attraction in the Philippines. For educational tours, arrangements can be made with the local National Power Corporation (NPC) officials at its office in Ditucalan.
