Marjan was a lion at the Kabul Zoo in Kabul Afghanistan who was maimed in a grenade attack. As the story goes, in 1993 a Mujahideen soldier climbed into Marjan's enclosure to show off and Marjan killed him. Soon after, a friend of the dead soldier threw a grenade at Marjan which cost the lion an eye.
