Markus Großkopf (Born in Hamburg, Germany on September 21st, 1965) is the Bass player for the german power metal band Helloween. He started playing bass at the age of 15 when he became friends with a drummer and a guitar player, they we`re looking for a bass player so he bought his first bass and started jamming with covers of the Sex pistols, The Ramones and others. Some time later he decided to leave in hope of finding a heavier band, and with more live playing opportunities. That`s when he met Kai Hansen and his band "Second Hell", with whom he started playing. The band later joined forces with former "Powerfool" guitarrist Michael Weikath and later adopted the name Helloween being the original lineup: Kai Hansen (Guitars/vocals), Michael Weikath (Guitars), Markus Großkopf (Bass) and Ingo Schwichtenberg (Drums). His first side project/solo project goes by the name of Shockmachine and released his first album "Create link on site" in 1998, he has also played bass on Tobias Sammet`s (Edguy) Avantasia 1 & 2 projects, as well as Uriah Heep members` arranged version of Salisbury and the band Kickhunter who released their debut album "Hearts and Bones" in which Markus played the role of Bass player and producer. Playing Style

His playing style has been known to have very prominent basslines, ocassional but not very often solos (being the most famous the bass solo on Eagle Fly Free), and is known to use both his fingers and a pick, depending on the song. He regularly uses a pick for the more straightfoward, simple bass lines, like I Want Out or Just a Little Sign, and fingers for more lead type of playing, like on Eagle Fly Free or Halloween. His playing style also expanded on Helloween`s latest album Keeper of the Seven Keys - The Legacy where more bass solos and lead parts are heard, and even some slap bass on the first single Mrs god. Halloween is also the name of a song by Mudhoney, The Misfits, as well as numerous other artists. ... Markus Yes well I mean this was great we did not know what to expect when we came there back in 1987, we played in Washington DC and its all pretty big and we had this bus driver dressed totally in leather, he was a big fat guy.
Markus Grosskopf I would say in July, but there are always delays however we are on schedule so it will be done on time and we have to be right on schedule because we will miss the festivals and stuff if we are not.
Markus Grosskopf When you have all of these problems you cant freak out and you have to deal with it...I mean when you have fights and such and record company disputes you have to deal with it and move on.
