Encyclopedia > Marymont

Marymont (from French Mont de Marie - Mary's Hill) is one of the northern neighbourhoods of Warsaw, administratively a part of the borough of Żoliborz. Named after queen of Poland Maria Kazimiera, wife of king John III Sobieski, initially it housed a small summer manor. In 1920's parts of the neighbourhood were built-up with residential areas. An A-19 Marymont Warsaw Metro station is currently under construction.
