Massacre is an AmericanDeath metal band. They were formed in 1984 by Allen West and Bill Andrews and soon joiined by Kam Lee and Rick Rozz. The disbanded and re-united again several times. After one disbandment, Rick, Terry and Bill joined Death. The band released their debut album From Beyond in 1989 followed by an EP 2 years later (featuring Cronos of Venom). After which the band split up again. Lee and Rozz reformed the band in 1996 and released a new album Promise which was very badly received. This led to the permanent disbanded shortly after the released. Death metal is a type of heavy metal music with thrash metal influences which emerged in the United States (especially Florida and California), Europe (especially the United Kingdom and Sweden) and Canada in the late 1980s and early 1990s. ... Although Massacre were hampered by unstable line-ups for much of their career, they, along with Morbid Angel and the late Chuck Schuldiner (RIP), helped originate and shape the genre of Florida Death Metal and have influenced countless bands that came later- everyone from Napalm Death to Entombed cite them as a major influence.
Massacre played countless shows in mid 80's Florida before the spotlight fell on the area, influencing the later wave of bands from Deicide to Obituary to follow their lead.
The band were put on hold however, when Chuck Schuldiner relocated back from LA to his native Florida and promptly recruited Rick, Bill and Terry to record the second Death Album "Leprosy", for Combat Records.
