The degree of Master of Arts degree is an undergraduate degree awarded by the universities of Oxford and Cambridge as well as by the University of Dublin. It is also awarded by the ancient universities of Scotland, but under a different arrangement (see Master of Arts (Scotland)). The practice is a very ancient and rather confusing one, and not always applauded by younger universities.
