Matador is the title of a 1987musical by Mike Leander and Edward Seago, which tells the story of Manuel Benitez, El Cordobes.
Although the singer Tom Jones was keen to play the lead, and gave up his Las Vegas cabaret shows to return to the UK for that purpose, the musical was unable to attract the financial backing required. Jones did, however, take the lead in a studio cast recording of the musical, and the first single lifted from it, A Boy From Nowhere, became his first UK top ten hit for fifteen years.

Matador is the title of a 1991 musical by Mike Leander and Edward Seago, which tells the story of the rise and fall of a fictional matador, loosly based on Manuel Benitez, El Cordobes.
Jones was keen to play the lead on stage, and gave up his Las Vegas cabaret shows to return to the UK for that purpose.
The musical was initially unable to attract the financial backing required, but Jones did get his first UK top ten hit after a fifteen-year dry spell, with his single, A Boy From Nowhere, lifted from the Matador concept album.
M. Ward is a Portland, Oregon based songwriter whose music seems to occupy a place that is uniquely "out of time".
Listening to an M. Ward record is like thumbing through and old family photo album, full of fl and white photographs that are fading around the edges; an imperfection that only adds to the clarity of their memories.
In composition and style his music has been compared to such luminaries as Tom Waits, Granddaddy, Sparklehorse and Howe Gelb (the Giant Sand front man has been one of Wards strongest champions, releasing the young songwriters debut CD, 'Duet For Guitars #2', on his own Ow Om label).
