Encyclopedia > Matrix theory (physics)
It has been suggested that this article or section be merged with matrix string theory. (Discuss)

Matrix theory (also written M(atrix) theory) is a fundamental formulation of M-theory, in terms of interacting D0-branes (zero-dimensional Dirichlet branes) in infinite momentum frame, proposed by Banks, Fishler, Shenker, and Susskind. Matrix Theory is now understood to be a special case of the celebrated (subsequently discovered) AdS/CFT correspondence. See discussion in M-theory. Wikipedia does not have an article with this exact name. ... In physics, matrix string theory is the first known set of equations that describe superstring theory in a non-perturbatively complete and consistent framework. ... M-theory is a solution proposed for the unknown theory of everything which would combine all five superstring theories and 11-dimensional supergravity together. ... In theoretical physics, D-branes are a special class of p-branes, named for the physicist Johann Dirichlet. ... Tom Banks is a physicist and string theorist at Rutgers University and University of California, Santa Cruz. ... Willy Fischler is a theoretical physicist and string theorist. ... Steve Shenker is a theoretical physicist and string theorist. ... Categories: Stub ... In physics, the AdS/CFT correspondence is the equivalence between a string theory or supergravity defined on some sort of Anti de Sitter space and a conformal field theory defined on its boundary whose dimension is lower by one. ... M-theory is a solution proposed for the unknown theory of everything which would combine all five superstring theories and 11-dimensional supergravity together. ...

Quantum theory - definition of Quantum theory - Labor Law Talk Dictionary (3432 words)
The quantum field theory of the strong nuclear force is called quantum chromodynamics, and describes the interactions of the subnuclear particles: quarks and gluons.
However, the formulation of a complete theory of quantum gravity is hindered by apparent incompatibilities between general relativity, the most accurate theory of gravity currently known, and some of the fundamental assumptions of quantum theory.
Quantum electrodynamics is a quantum theory of electrons, positrons, and the electromagnetic field, and served as a role model for subsequent quantum field theories.
Game theory - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (3866 words)
Game theory is a hybrid branch of applied mathematics and economics that studies strategic situations where players choose different actions in an attempt to maximize their returns.
Although similar to decision theory, game theory studies decisions that are made in an environment where various players interact.
During this time period, work on game theory was primarily focused on cooperative game theory, which analyzes optimal strategies for groups of individuals, presuming that they can enforce agreements between them about proper strategies.
