Matthew Weiner is an American screenwriter and television producer. Weiner is currently a writer and Co-executive producer on the HBO series, The Sopranos, being on staff since the show's fifth season and has written over 5 episodes, including the controversial The Test Dream (with David Chase), Unidentified Black Males, for which he received an Emmy nomination with co-writer Terence Winter, and Luxury Lounge, a cult favorite which features screen legend Lauren Bacall being punched in the face. Weiner has also appeared in the series in the fifth and sixth season as writer Manny Safier, author of The Wise Guide to Wise Guys.
