Mattimeo, the son of Matthias, and a group of his friends are captured by a group of slavers led by Slagar, a villianous fox. They are intended to be brought to to the Kingdom of Malkariss, an old white polecat, to be sold. Matthias and a small band of allies set out to rescue them from their terrible fate. Meanwhile, Redwall Abbey is attacked by a band of ravens and magpies led by the General Ironbeak, a war lord from the frozen northlands.
