Encyclopedia > Mausberg

Mausberg (1979 - 2000), real name Johnny Burns, was a talented Cali-bred MC who was discovered by DJ Quik. He appeared on some of Quik's earlier work, many remember him for his appearence on the song "Down, Down, Down" off Rhythm-al-lism back in 1998. He teamed up with DJ Quik, Suga Free and many other West Coast artists to record a compilation called The Konnectid Project. The compilation made a lot of noise and paved the way for him take centre stage. Mausberg went on to release Non Fiction on Sheppard Lane Records in 2000. Many said that this album would bring the West back to it's former glory. But, a few weeks before it's release, Mausberg was shot to death in his hometown of Compton, CA. He was 21.
