Massimiliano Papis, MaxPapis, (born October 3, 1969) is a former Formula One driver from Italy.
Papis earned the nickname "Mad Max" at the 1996 24 Hours of Daytona during his last stint at the end of the race.
Although his second-place Ferrari 333SP had been battered due to collisions, some of its bodywork held together by tape, Papis unlapped himself by passing the race leader (the Doyle Racing Oldsmobile driven by Wayne Taylor) and proceeded to bang out some of the fastest laps of the entire race.
MaxPapis talks about his goals in CART, his relationwhiop with new teammate Robby Gordon, and suggests that there may be a podium finish possible still this season.
Max's finish Sunday was his best since eighth at last year's US 500 presented by Toyota, and matched his best on a road or street course since finishing ninth at Road America in 1996.
