Maylands is a suburb approximately 5 kilometres north-east of Perth located on the shore of the Swan River. The suburb was developed during the 1890s and is currently a locality within City of Bayswater bordered by the suburbs of Mount Lawley, East Perth and Bayswater. There is a train station in this suburb, called Maylands. The railway line was built in the 1880s. Western Australian visitors included a policeman (later Commissioner) a fireman and an ambulance man. Schools set up relationships resulting in a number of visits both ways along with numbers of exchange students and teachers, and many citizens of each nation felt they could be welcomed in their Sister Cities.
