McKey is a census-designated place located in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 135.


Geography

McKey is located at 35°29'3" North, 94°50'30" West (35.484263, -94.841796)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 15.4 km˛ (5.9 mi˛). 15.1 km˛ (5.8 mi˛) of it is land and 0.2 km˛ (0.1 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 1.52% water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 135 people, 55 households, and 38 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 8.9/km˛ (23.1/mi˛). There are 61 housing units at an average density of 4.0/km˛ (10.5/mi˛). The racial makeup of the CDP is 62.22% White, 0.00% African American, 21.48% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 16.30% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 55 households out of which 36.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.8% are married couples living together, 5.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.9% are non-families. 25.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.45 and the average family size is 2.92.


In the CDP the population is spread out with 26.7% under the age of 18, 1.5% from 18 to 24, 33.3% from 25 to 44, 25.2% from 45 to 64, and 13.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 104.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 94.1 males.


The median income for a household in the CDP is $24,732, and the median income for a family is $41,528. Males have a median income of $26,250 versus $16,250 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $15,696. 0.0% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line.
