The gang was headed by the McLaughlin Brothers made up of brothers (Bernie, Georgie, and Edward "Punchy" McLaughlin) as well as their associates (also brothers) Stevie and Connie Hughes from Charlestown, Massachusetts. They were involved in the Irish Gang Wars of Boston during the early to mid 1960s against Somerville's "Winter Hill Gang" led by James "Buddy" McLean. The decade long gang war left both Bernie and Punchy dead and Georgie in prison. James "Jim" McLaughlin (born in Connecticut in 1861 - death udate not yet located) was an American thoroughbred race horse jockey.
McLaughlin's six Belmont wins still stands as the most for any jockey and is shared with Eddie Arcaro who won his sixth in 1955.
In 1955, Jim McLaughlin was posthumously inducted in the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame.
