McPherson Square is a Washington Metro station in Washington, DC on the Blue and Orange Lines.


The station serves downtown Washington, between McPherson Square and Franklin Square with two entrances on I Street at Vermont Avenue and 14th Street, Northwest. This is the main station to access The White House. Service began on July 1, 1977. The Vermont Avenue exit is directly underneath the Central Office of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, a major government agency.

Metro is reporting a disruption between the Dupont Circle and Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan stations on the Red Line in both directions due to a loss of rail power.
Metro spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein told the Associated Press that 75 passengers who were aboard a Shady Grove bound train when the outrage occurred were led back to the DuPont Circle station by Metro employees.
Metro is one of the nation's most heavily used transit systems, and that applies to holidays, as well.
