The Mealy Parrot (Amazona farinosa), commonly known as the Mealy Amazon in the United States, is one of the largest Amazon parrots. They are approximately 40 cm (15 1/2 in) tall, tail tip to head. They weigh between 650 and 900 grams (Roughly 1 1/2 to 2 lbs). It is also called the Blue-Crowned Mealy Parrot in the United Kingdom, for the patch of purple or blue found on the top of it's head. The Mealy Parrot’s natural habitat ranges from Southern Mexico south into Northern Bolivia and Eastern Brazil. They commonly inhabit the sparse tropical rain forests in this region. Most Mealy Amazons have a distinctly violet/blue crown as mentioned above. Some also have yellow on their heads. The rest of their bodies are mostly green, their tails feathers being light green/lime at the tip. Some Mealy Parrots have a light blue/teal sheen to their green coat.
