A figure of speech, sometimes termed a rhetorical Rhetoric (from Greek ρητωρ, rhêtôr, "orator") is one of the three original liberal arts or trivium (the other members are dialectic and grammar) in Western culture.
Figures of speech are often used and crafted for emphasis, freshness of expression, or clarity.
It is a type of hyperbaton, or a figure of disorder, in that it disturbs the flow of the sentence.
