Melanie Janine Brown (born May 29, 1975) is a British singer, originally in the girl band the Spice Girls, where she was known as "Scary Spice".


Born in Leeds, England.


She married dancer Jimmy Gulzar September 13, 1998. Divorced Gulzar January 2001.


Her debut album Hot was released in 2000.


She has appeared in an advert for the Yorkshire tourist board in a series which included contributions from other Yorkshire-born celebrities including Brian Blessed, Alan Titchmarsh, Darren Gough and Brian Turner.
