The Melanesia Cup is a soccer championship played between the Melanesian countries, it was used (along with the Polynesia Cup) for qualification to the Oceania Nations Cup. The last edition of the cup was in 2001, although there are plans to revive the championship. The tournament used a round-robin format involving every team playing each other once at the tournaments location. Melanesia (from Greek black islands) is a region extending from the west Pacific to the Arafura Sea, north and north-east of Australia. ...
