The Sprinter is a tall delivery van and mini-bus built by DaimlerChrysler and sold under its Mercedes-Benz, Dodge, and Freightliner brands. It was launched in Europe in 1995 to replace the Mercedes Benz T1 van dating from the 1970's and in 2001 in the US (originally branded as a Freightliner there). It is designed primarily for business, not consumer, use. It is currently offered with a diesel engine in the United States and diesel or LPG in Europe. In 2003, DaimlerChrysler introduced a Dodge-branded version of the Sprinter to replace the aging Dodge Ram Van. While the Sprinter is offered to consumers, it is primarily a business model. The Mercedes Sprinter is currently the most popular cab/chassis used as a base for motorhomes in Australia.
Mercedes seem to be having a bet each way - in practice the bump stop isn't on the wishbone, but they say in writing that it is designed to rest on the wishbone.
We went with Mercedes because it was pointed out to us that they insist that any manufacturer fitting a body to their chassis have the design approved by Mercedes.
