Meridianville is an unincorporated community and census-designated place located in Madison County, Alabama. As of the 2000 census, the population of the community is 4,117.

Geography

Meridianville is located at 34°52'10" North, 86°34'42" West (34.869312, -86.578373)¹.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the community has a total area of 40.6 km² (15.7 mi²). 40.5 km² (15.6 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 4,117 people, 1,492 households, and 1,250 families residing in the community. The population density is 101.6/km² (263.0/mi²). There are 1,565 housing units at an average density of 38.6/km² (100.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the community is 86.62% White, 9.40% Black or African American, 1.07% Native American, 0.73% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.19% from other races, and 1.94% from two or more races. 0.70% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,492 households out of which 40.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 72.8% are married couples living together, 8.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 16.2% are non-families. 14.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.76 and the average family size is 3.05.

In the community the population is spread out with 27.5% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 31.4% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 9.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 97.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.1 males.

The median income for a household in the community is $54,766, and the median income for a family is $61,367. Males have a median income of $42,274 versus $29,241 for females. The per capita income for the community is $23,626. 4.2% of the population and 2.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 3.9% of those under the age of 18 and 0.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
