Merksplas is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality only comprises the town of Merksplas proper. On January 1st, 2004 Merksplas had a total population of 8,027 (4,141 males and 3,886 females). The total area is 44.56 km� which gives a population density of 180.14 inhabitants per km�.
