metal, chemical element displaying certain properties by which it is normally distinguished from a nonmetal, notably its metallic luster, the capacity to lose electrons and form a positive ion, and the ability to conduct heat and electricity.
The metals are one of the three groups of elements as distinguished by their ionisation and bonding properties, along with the metalloids and nonmetals.
Some metals form a barrier layer of oxide on their surface which cannot be penetrated by further oxygen molecules and thus retain their shiny appearance and good conductivity for many decades (like aluminium, some steels, and titanium).
MetalBox also refers to a green cube in the Super Mario Bros. series that has appeared in two video games.
MetalBox is an album by Public Image Ltd. released in 1979 by Virgin Records.
The title refers to the album's original packaging, which consists of a metal 16mm film canister embossed with the band's logo and containing three 12" 45 rpm records (although the final tracks/side are 33rpm.) The music was reissued in 1980 as a double album titled Second Edition.
