He first appeared when VenomMyotismon terrorized Tokyo. Angemon and Angewomon shot Matt and Tai, respectively, with their Arrows of Hope and Light. When Matt was shot, Gabumon Warp Digivolved to MetalGarurumon while Agumon Warp Digivolved to WarGreymon. Together with WarGreymon, MetalGarurumon then destroyed their enemy, but when the DigiDestined returned to the Digital World they had to fight against the Dark Masters. Although at first none of the two Megas of the kids was able to deal some damage to the evil Digimon, they were finally able to defeat one by another and it was MetalGarurumon who destroyed Puppetmon. Gabumon is the Digimon partner of Matt, and Digivolve into his Mega form of MetalGarurumon for the first time in 1.38, "Prophecy." In terms of popularity, Gabumon and MetalGarurumon come in a firm second to Agumon and WarGreymon - which is still enough for a toy to be made.
The shoulders and wrists of his secondary arms are articulated too, but the joints are carry-overs from the MetalGarurumon mode, as those arms are supposed to just be fur in Gabumon mode.
While not as successful as the WarGreymon Digivolver, MetalGarurumon remains one of the better figures from the season one assortment of toys, despite the fact that he's a bit clunky and wobbly at times.
