Melodic metalcore

Melodic metalcore, also called swedecore, gothencore, melodic deathcore and sometimes refered to as the New Wave of American Metal, is a subgenre pioneered by Overcast and Zao which has become immensely popular, with bands playing a combination of melodic death metal, popularized by bands such as At the Gates and In Flames, and early metalcore. Metalcore is a genre that has been around since the eighties but not totally popularized until the mid 90's with bands such as Unearth, the modern forerunners in the genre.
Metalcore is a genre crossbreed of heavy metal and hardcore that claims to be better than its nu-metal predecessors, which in some ways is true.
Metalcore has its ups, however; most metalcore bands are at least twice as talented as their nu-metal counterparts (instrumentally) and lacks the annoying rap aspect of said music.

Elements of metalcore began forming here and there in lots of the music I was listening to but got muddied and over shadowed by nu metal.
During that time metalcore was the music that I found to be the light for the future.
What keeps Kingdom from getting better than 3 and a half stars is that while the guys in Cataract have taken the very simple metalcore formula and followed it to a T they have done nothing to set themselves apart from the dozens of other high quality metalcore bands in the heavy music scene today.
