Metro Sports History - Metro Sports first aired December 12th, 1996.
- On February 9th 2004, Metro Sports and KCTV5 made television history, as KCTV5 outsourced its sport segment to Metro Sports. Metro Sports also handles, chiefs pregame and post game shows. Instead of originating from the KCTV studios in Fairway, KS, the sports segment is fed to the station via a fiber-optic cable from the Time Warner’s Metro Sports studio, near Swope Park. Metro Sports would produce all of KCTV’s sports programming, including Kansas City Chiefs shows, sports specials and live coverage of breaking sports news. The Metro Sports Report aires as KCTV's sports segment at 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and at 5:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Sunday.
- On September 11th 2001, Metro Sports halted operations and closed down the station for the day. The company called around to all other local affiliates to offer their equipment, employees and services in helping cover the tragic day.
