Metroad 7 has numerous sets of lights and does not have any major freeway grade stretches (except James Ruse Dr) and with the industrial growth of the western suburbs, traffic is extremely heavy around the clock. The most substandard section of the Highway is from James Ruse Drive to the M2, as it is for the most part, an undivided 4 lane road.
Westlink M7 With the opening of Westlink M7 before Christmas 2005, Metroad 7 was decommisioned. The Westlink M7 runs from the M2 at Baulkham Hills to the Light Horse Interchange at the M4, before crossing south to end at the M5 at Casula. Most of former Metroad 7 traffic moves from the existing Cumberland Highway route onto the Westlink, which is electronically tolled according to distance travelled.
