John Connolly: Bestselling Author (1915 words)
Connelly wanted to be a crime writer, but what is interesting is that fate appears to have intervened at crucial points in his life to give him a helpful push in his chosen direction, admittedly sometimes at the cost of other people being given a helpful push in the direction of their own mortality.
Connelly became a journalist, spurred on not by Watergate, as many of his peers were, but by the reporting of Edna Buchanan and others, who had covered the era of the cocaine cowboys in Florida at the end of the seventies.
