Some members of men's movements perceive Flood as anti-male/Misandrist, as he is highly critical of the men's rights and fathers' rights movements. However, Flood himself argues that efforts to engage men, whether in violence prevention or gender mainstreaming, must be based on a 'male-positive' commitment to enhancing men's lives. They must be guided by principles of gender equality and social justice, and responsive to diversities among men. This statement by Flood is in contrast to Flood's "International Men's Day: An open letter of rejection", where he states "Men’s organisations should not promote nor support an International Men’s Day. Nor should other organisations offer their support to such an event."[1]. It is in this letter that Flood shows his anti-male bias. Misandry (IPA ) is the hatred of males as a sex [1]. The word comes from misos (Greek μá¿ÏοÏ, hatred) + andras (Greek á¼Î½Î´ÏαÏ, man). Although misandry is sometimes confused with misanthropy, the terms are not interchangeable, since the latter refers to the hatred of humanity. ...
