Michael Wittig is best known as "Kalel," the bass player for the Christian hard rock band Pillar (who have won many Dove Awards). In 1992 he started trying to form a Christian band in his garage. The band was originally called Q: The Source (named after the Q document), but they eventually called it Godspeed for the release of their self titled EP. He graduated from Riverside Polytechnic High School in 1994, and soon left to go to college in Oklahoma where he eventually met the people that he would form Pillar with. Bass may refer to: Look up bass in Wiktionary, the free dictionary. ... Pillar is a Christian rock band. ... The GMA Music Awards, formerly the Dove Awards, were created in 1969 by the Gospel Music Association to honor the outstanding achievements in contemporary Christian and gospel music. ... The Q document or Q (Q for German Quelle, source) is a postulated lost textual source for the Gospel of Matthew and Gospel of Luke. ...


Michael has two children and lives with his wife in Oklahoma.


Fun Facts

  • The June 94 (or June 93) issue of Flex magazine included a letter written by Michael and a picture of him showing off his muscles. Michael admits to using a sneaky angle with the camera to make his muscles look bigger.
  • Michael's stage name, "Kalel" is based on Superman's name when he was on Krypton, "Kal-El."
