Michel Becquet (born 1954) is a modern and historical trombonist and teacher.

He was taught piano and horn by his father who was a professional horn player. Aged 10 Becquet discovered a passion for trombone and went on to study at the Conservatoire de Limoges and aged fifteen entered the Conservatoire Superieur de Musique de Paris where in 1971 he won first prize for trombone and the following year first prize for chamber music.

This was followed by success by winning every international competition open to him in trombone in Geneva, Munich, Prague and Toulon.

At the age of 18 he was appointed first trombone with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Geneva and he later joined the Paris Opera Orchestra, where he was soloist from 1975 to 1989.

Leaving the orchestra to devote time to teaching and composition, he joined the Hochschule fur Musik in Cologne, and in 1990 he became Head of Brass at the Lyons Conservatoire.
