The Corporation is divided into the Commonwealth Conference and the Freedom Conference, although for football all teams are combined into one conference (minus the Commonwealth and Freedom subdivisions) due to the fact that not all member colleges of the MAC have football programs. Also, men's and women's cross country and track and field are combined into one conference. In May of 2006, it was announced that the MAC offered membership to Arcadia University and Manhattanville College as part of the Freedom Conference. They will be replacing Juniata College, Drew University, Moravian College, Susquehanna University, and the University of Scranton, who are leaving to join the new Landmark Conference. Lycoming College will switch from the Freedom to the Commonwealth. The new conference alignments will take place after the 2006-2007 academic-athletic year.
