Middle Georgia College is a publicly supported two-year charter unit of the University System of Georgia, in the town Cochran in the U.S. state of Georgia. The college provides high quality postsecondary education and support services to prepare its graduates for life-long learning, responsible citizenship, and leadership in their chosen careers.


As of 2004, Middle Georgia College has about 2,000 students.

The college was established in 1884 by the New Ebenezer Baptist
The college's first building was constructed during 1885 and 1886, and instruction began in January 1887 with an enrollment of approximately 100 students, most of whom were from the middle Georgia area.
Such a school for the Twelfth Congressional District was authorized in August 1917 as a branch of the Georgia State College of Agricultural and Mechanic Arts, a department of the University of Georgia.
