His cartoons generally revolve around elegant, beautiful women caught up in unlikely and fantastical erotic scenarios. The works vary in their explicitness, but the general mood is playful rather than misogynistic. Manara's skill in creating atmosphere, his obvious talent, and his occasional excursions into more "mainstream" stories, have helped to give him an air of artistic respectability. Nato il 12 settembre 1945 a Luson, in provincia di Bolzano, Milo Manara si dedica inizialmente alla pittura e alla pubblicitĂ  ed esordisce nei fumetti nel 1969 disegnando il nero Genius.
In seguito si dedica a Jolanda de Almaviva e disegna alcuni numeri del mensile satirico "Telerompo" prima di approdare al "Corriere dei Ragazzi", dove tra l'altro realizza, su testi di Mino Milani, un'interessante serie di processi ai grandi personaggi della storia.
Milo Manara ha anche disegnato alcune famose campagne pubblicitarie.
