Mindy is very smart; her IQ is not known, but it must be very high, since she has beaten Josh in their school's science fair every year, and even cloned her dog (and cloned the clone). However, she is also rather arrogant and can be mean, as seen in her first appearance, in "Honor Council". There, she frames Drake for putting her teacher's car in her classroom because the teacher once gave her a B grade, which ruined her straight A average. "Mindy's Back"

In the episode "Mindy's back" it is learned that she was sent to a mental rehabilitation clinic (which Drake & Josh call "The Nutty Hut" and "The Wacky Shack") after she was suspended. Now that she has been released (to Josh's disappointment), she appears at the science fair and is ready to go to school again. She seems to have mellowed slightly after that, but not enough to resist beating Josh's electromagnet in the science fair yet again. With a smaller yet stronger magnet she created, she humiliates Josh once again. Later in class, when asked who she wants as her project partner, she picks Josh, much to his dismay. Later at Josh's house, after talking to Megan (who hates Mindy, since it's apparently her job [not Mindy's] to make her brothers' life miserable), Mindy says that they are on the same team: Megan can only torment Josh at home, but Mindy can do it at school, and that would leave Josh miserable almost all the time—which Megan likes. Drake takes Megan away, since he doesn't want her infested with "Mindy germs". Mindy then starts insulting Josh. He asks her why she has to one-up him all the time. She gets her kicks by making him look stupid, and then she reveals that she doesn't think he is stupid—rather, she "likes" him. Mindy says that Josh has to tell Drake that they are dating, but Josh chickens out after having a nightmare in which Drake's head explodes after Josh tells him. When Mindy finds out, she breaks up with him just before their first kiss. Josh then tells Drake about him and Mindy, and he doesn't mind—she is Josh's girlfriend and he's just happy that Josh has a girlfriend. They go to Mindy's house so Josh can apologise and once there, Josh stands on Drake's shoulders so he can talk to Mindy through her window. After he apologizes and says that he told Drake about them, she says that they shouldn't date anymore, but she changes her mind and they kiss and get back together. Suddenly, Drake can't hold Josh up anymore and he falls down, taking Josh and Mindy with him.

"Playing the Field"

Josh becomes enamored of the "power of the 'stache" and grows one of his own. In response, Mindy gives him a Hobson's choice--shave it off or she will refuse to ever kiss him again. Josh responds that he will not remove it until Mindy kisses him. In this episode, since Josh and Mindy have been dating several months, Mindy feels it's time for Josh to meet her parents for dinner at her house. Once there, Josh gives Mr. Crenshaw a box of chocolates and Mrs. Crenshaw some daisies; Mr. Crenshaw says that he is diabetic and Mrs. Crenshaw says that she is allergic to daisies. He then switches the gifts and Mrs. Crenshaw says chocolate gives her a rash and Mr. Crenshaw says that in Czechoslovakia daisies are the flowers of death (judging from their attitudes, Mindy got her arrogance and brains from the two). Once they sit down, one of the bulbs from their chandelier starts blinking. Mrs. Crenshaw says that it's giving her a headache, so Josh stands on his chair and tightens the bulb while Mindy keeps saying "Please don't let him fall" over and over. Later, Josh fixes up the dining room because he managed to convince Mindy's parents to come over for dinner. He tells Drake that he and his girlfriend Lucy, who are planning to have a wrestling match to prove who is tougher, have to stay upstairs because if things don't go well, Mindy's parents will forbid her from dating Josh. "Mindy Loves Josh"

In this episode, Josh and Mindy are working on a science project for the science fair and then Megan comes and sees them and tells Josh that somebody is stealing his bike after putting the lock and chains on it. Later that evening Drake is eating Megan's big cookie, and then he swallows it. In revenge, she sprays Drake's hands and feet green. to which he wakes up freaked out and washed his hands with soap. Then Drake goes to www.whatswrongwithmybody.com(this is a direct link to Nickelodeon's official website) to search for skin illness and knew to get rid of it is to put his hands and feet in lizard urine (this was Megan's intention; to make Drake think he had the illness). Meanwhile, Mindy tells Josh she loves him as she is leaving the house. Josh responds by slamming the door and bruising Mindy's nose after after saying "See you in chemistry". Later in the episode, the two seem to get back together. However, Drake convinced Josh that Mindy only said "I love you" to distract Josh from the science fair, so she would win again. However, at the science fair, Josh's photon cannon wins after blasting a hole through an inch thick board of wood. After the fair, Josh confronts Mindy for lying to him. She tells him she let him win the fair and shows him the the blast of her photon cannon, which blasts a giant hole in the wall. She leaves upset saying that she didn't lie about loving him. Josh gives Mindy the first prize trophy. The two eventually patch things up but decided it was best for both of them to break up.
