The Minnesota Strikers were an American professional soccer franchise located in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area.
The Strikers' history begins in 1984, when the Fort Lauderdale Strikers were relocated to Minnesota. The team played that year in the North American Soccer League, but the league collapsed at the end of the season. The team survived, however, moving indoors and joining the Major Indoor Soccer League. The team played four seasons in the MISL, folding after the 1987-88 season.
All the hunger strikers lay down on their bed throughout the day as they have little or no energy to stroll around in front of the site and even to chat among themselves.
The hunger strikers are looking frail and exhausted, but their determination remains strong.
The fourteen hunger strikers are on their thirteenth day of the fast, with only couple of glasses of water to sustain their body.
The Strikers were members of the North American Soccer League from 1977 to its penultimate year, 1983.
After the 1983 season, the Strikers were moved to Minnesota and became the MinnesotaStrikers.
In their second season the Strikers did almost as well, finishing the season with a 12-8 record, but emerged in the playoffs, eventually going on to defeat the Boston Bolts to win the 1989 championship.
