MIRPURKHAS, Feb 7: Growers have demanded of the Sindh government to announce special package for the Mirpurkhas district as it had been the worst affected by persistent shortage of water for the past four years.
Citing reasons for the acute shortage of water, he said that the district was situated at the tail-end of the Nara Canal because of which the growers had been receiving lesser amount of water.
A group of Mirpurkhas district council members had sent complaints to the National Steering Committee over the alleged transfer of several Dera schemes, meant for the drought-affected areas of Mirpurkhas and Tharparkar districts, to the agriculture sector.
