The Missouri Valley Conference (also called MVC or simply "The Valley") is a college athletic conference whose members are located in the midwestern United States. Founded in 1907, the MVC is the nation's second oldest Division I collegiate athletic conference. Some consider the MVC formed from the split of the Missouri Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MVIAA) in 1928. Several schools of that conference formed the MVC, while others retained the MVIAA name, which would ultimately become the Big Eight Conference. Both conferences claim the same history.
